Keeping a tight rein on purse strings is a high priority this year and by only selling to customers direct, Belvoir Bed can offer huge savings. It may not seem financially viable to buy a whole pallet of bedding at one time, however when you work out the savings involved – can you really afford not to?
With the average price of a bale of shavings being in excess of £7, now is a perfect time to look at alternative bedding products. Belvoir Bed is a mix of chopped wheat and rape straw offering absorbency that rivals wood based products – and an easy, traditional and extremely cost effective bedding method.
With prices starting at just £5.75 (including vat) per bale, based on the average horse’s requirements of 4 bales to set up an initial bed and 1 bale per week to top up, using Belvoir Bed costs around £322 per year. Using the same quantity of shavings would cost £392 for the year – already providing customers with bill of £70 more. By using Belvoir Bed you could have saved yourself nearly 18% of the total cost per year, the equivalent of 12 bales of Belvoir Bed, effectively 3 months of bedding!
For larger yards the savings will be even more obvious. As an example, a yard with 10 horses would have a bedding bill of around £3,920 per year based on the average cost of £7 per bale of shavings. With Belvoir Bed that cost is reduced to £3,220 – a saving of £700! For this reason, amongst others, Belvoir Bed is used by professional yards around the country including event rider Sharon Hunt and dressage riders Gareth and Rebecca Hughes.
Apart from the obvious cost benefits, Belvoir Bed rots down within 2 – 3 months minimising muck heap removal costs, as well as being quick and easy to muck out making it generally more efficient. The natural lemongrass treatment offers anti bacterial and anti fungal properties to maintain a healthy environment and the vigorous dust extraction process makes it ideal for horses with a compromised respiratory system.

Belvoir Bed is now available in smaller quantities
Due to popular demand Belvoir Bed is now available to buy in smaller quantities enabling all horse owners to benefit from the cost effective, easy to use chopped straw bedding.
Used and favoured by top international riders, including event rider Sharon Hunt and dressage riders Rebecca and Gareth Hughes, Belvoir Bed starts at just £4.90 per bale and is now available to buy direct in single pallets.
One pallet contains 35 bales, enough to last one horse approximately 6 months, and buying in bulk enables yards and single horse owners to save pounds on their bedding costs over the winter.
Yards already using Belvoir Bed have found it speeds up mucking out and reduces muck heap size. Sharon Hunt’s head groom, Sophie Smith, now finds mucking out a doddle! “Belvoir Bed is dust free, easy to use, quick to muck out, always smells nice and very economical," she says.

Belvoir Bed supports top dressage riders
Belvoir Bed is committed to supporting equestrianism, including event rider Sharon Hunt and competitions such as Blenheim and The Royal Festival of the Horse. Now they have ventured in to the world of dressage with their recently announced partnership with international dressage couple, Rebecca and Gareth Hughes. After purchasing Belvoir Bed, Rebecca reported excellent feedback having put the product through its paces and both she and Gareth are now officially endorsing the chopped straw bedding.
Rebecca Hughes, who is the resident trainer at Classic Dressage, runs the yard in Buckinghamshire and specialises in training young horses. Having represented Great Britain several times, recent successes include placings at Hartpury, Hickstead and Hansbeke at the Belgium Internationals on Felicity Scott's Shining Light. Rebecca was won over the bedding when she first began using it. “Belvoir Bed is a first choice for equestrian bedding; it’s easy to use, economical and provides a comfortable, biodegradable method of bedding your horse.”
Gareth Hughes, runs Aspen Grove Dressage in Oxon alongside business partner Ann Newton and is currently campaigning a string of horses across the levels both on the national and international circuit. He has now been converted to Belvoir Bed after a slightly sceptical start. “I have always been a shavings and straw person and never tried anything different. However Belvoir Bed stays deeper, is easier to clean and produces a lot less waste. It takes less bedding to produce a deep bed. It works really well for us, it’s very comfortable for the Horses and gives a secure bed for them! We are very happy with it.”

Sharon Hunt update: The ups and downs of eventing
Our sponsored rider, Sharon Hunt, has had a busy, and successful time of it recently. She took a lorry full of horses to Nurstead where the young horses won a BE 100 section and came 4th and 5th and Bambi came 7th in her first Novice. Then it was off to Hambleden where Impulsive won the BE 100 Open, and in the BE 100 Opposition Express was 2nd and Cavalier Bertie 4th.
Chatsworth was good for Sharon, Bambi was 8th in the Novice and Tankers Town had his biggest win so far in the CIC 3*. Brigstock saw Azeb coming 5th in the Intermediate while Romeo Z was 7th.
As it always is in eventing - there are ups and downs and at Badminton Sharon jumped the wrong side of a flag so decided to pull up sadly after a good dressage test, saving Tankers Town for another day.
Look out for more updates but you can read more about Sharon's world on her blog http://sharonhunt.wordpress.com/

Sharon settles in to her new yard in Kent with the help of Belvoir Bed...
Suffolk based Sharon Hunt has now upped sticks and relocated to her new base at Bedgebury Equestrian Centre in Goudhurst, Kent. The move comes in a bid to move in to a more accessible area where Sharon can continue to produce her yard of 16 horses and have more direct access to local competitions.
Having been supported by Belvoir Bed for the past year, Sharon is pleased that she can remain safe in the knowledge that her horses will be settling in safely to their new environments. “The cost of moving yards is vast,” she says. “Having the support of Belvoir Bed means that not only am I sure that my horses will be comfortable in their new location but because of how good value Belvoir Bed is, setting up 16 beds from scratch is costing me as little as possible.”
Belvoir Bed is a combination of chopped wheat and rape straw and offers a biodegradable, cost effective and absorbent alternative to conventional bedding types. The natural formula used to coat the bedding contains Lemon Grass which is effective at reducing bacteria and offering a pleasant aroma.
Belvoir Bed starts at just £4.90 a bale + vat and is only available to purchase direct. For more information tel: 01772 877 897 or visit: www.belvoirbed.co.uk

Used and favoured by leading international event rider Sharon Hunt, Belvoir Bed not only offers an economical and easy method of bedding your horse but the unique and exclusive natural formula used to treat the product makes it an ideal product for use during warmer months to banish bugs!
The principal ingredient in Belvoir Bed’s natural formulation is Lemongrass which has fly repelling properties as well as being non toxic and non irritant whilst offering a pleasant lemon smell without the potency of citronella. “I use Belvoir Bed for all my horses as I find it not only easy to use, but incredibly cost effective and with the added fragrances their beds also always smell clean,” says Sharon. “Being chopped straw it rots down quickly and effectively and when the horses are stabled away I take it to events with me as the anti-bacterial formulation gives me peace of mind that my horses are in a clean and healthy environment.”
